Content Access Control — Create

Last updated on: 2026-05-25  |  Updated by: MAGNI Docs Team

The Content Access Control (CAC) Create page allows administrators to set up restricted access rules for specific media content. By defining expiration dates, view limits, and individual tracking, administrators can securely manage how and when users interact with published materials.

Page Sections

Action Header

The header at the top of the page provides breadcrumb navigation and primary actions for managing the creation process.

  • Breadcrumbs: Navigate back to the Dashboard or the main Content Access Controls list.
  • Cancel Button: Discards any input and returns you to the Content Access Controls list.
  • Save Button: Saves the new Content Access Control rule. This button remains disabled until all required form fields are validly filled and a content item is selected.

Content Access Control Details

This section contains the core configuration fields for your access control rule.

Full page

  • Name: (Required) Enter a clear, descriptive name to identify this access control rule in your system.
  • Expiration Date: (Required) Select the date when access to the content will expire. This date must be set to today or a future date.
  • View Limit: (Required) Specify the maximum number of times the content can be viewed. This must be a number of 1 or greater. Negative numbers are automatically corrected.
  • Views unique per individual: (Checkbox) When checked, the view limit is tracked individually for each user. When unchecked, the view limit applies globally as a shared pool of views across all users.

Select Content

This section is used to associate a single piece of published content with the access control rule.

When no content is selected:

  • Search Bar: Type in this field to filter the list of available published content.

nb

  • Content Table: Displays available published content with the following columns:
    • Content Name: The root name of the content.
    • Modified By: The username of the administrator who last modified the content.
    • Date Modified: The date and time when the content was last updated.
    • Sorting: Click any column header (Content Name, Modified By, or Date Modified) to sort the table.
  • Pagination: Use the page navigation controls at the bottom of the table to browse through multiple pages of available content.

When a content item is selected:

  • The search bar, table, and pagination controls are hidden.
  • The message "Only one content allowed" is displayed.
  • A button displaying the selected content's name with an "X" icon appears. Click this button to deselect the content and return to the search list.

Account Restriction Warning

⚠️ This feature requires a subscription that includes Content features.

If your organization's account does not have Content features enabled, the creation form will be hidden. Instead, you will see a notification banner: "To enable Content features, please upgrade your account, contact sales@magni.ai"

Common Actions

ActionHow to do it
Select ContentClick on any row in the Select Content table. The selected content will lock into place, hiding the rest of the list.
Change Selected ContentClick the button displaying the selected content's name (marked with an "X" icon) to remove it, then select a new item from the table.
Cancel CreationClick the Cancel button in the top-right corner of the page to return to the Content Access Controls list without saving.
Save Access Control RuleFill in all required fields (Name, Expiration Date, View Limit), select a content item, and click the Save button in the top-right corner.

Tips

  • Individual vs. Global Limits: Use the "Views unique per individual" checkbox if you want to ensure each user gets an equal opportunity to view the content (e.g., exactly 3 views per user) rather than having a few users consume a shared global view limit.
  • Future-Proofing Dates: Double-check your expiration date before saving. The system will not allow you to save a rule with an expiration date set in the past.
  • Quick Content Swapping: If you select the wrong content item by mistake, simply click the selected content's name button to clear it and bring back the search bar and table.
